A Little Something to Encourage You to Go Green!

.
Since I'm having so much fun shopping at yard sales and estate sales to fill my house & shop, I've decided to share the love!
.
Cloth Napkins are one of the easiest ways to cut down wasteful consumption, and when purchased 2nd hand, they are an even greener way to go!
.
I have decided to GIVEAWAY (!!!) 11 luncheon napkins w/ machine embroidered butterflies (folded in half) and 4 heavier-weight ivory cotton dinner napkins (folded in quarters). They show no signs of wear and are beautiful and functional.
.
There are 4 ways to be entered in the giveaway:
1. Leave a comment with 2 things you have done in the last 12 months to live Greener.
2. Leave a comment with 2 Green Goals you have for the next 12 months.
3. Link this Green Giveaway in you own blog, encouraging others to live Greener. (Provide the direct link)
4. Post about this Green Giveaway in a public forum, encouraging others to go Green. (Provide the direct link)
.
Please include a way to contact you in your response(s).
.
This Giveaway is open until Sunday, July 19th, 2009.
Winner will be chosen by a random online # drawing and posted Monday July 20th, 2009.
.
What better way to Go Green, Save Money, and show off your Class, than to use cloth instead of paper?
.
Good Luck!

2 things we've done the last month:

2 Things we've done in the last 12 months:

1. Cut back on how cool we keep the ac running in the house.
2. Made an effort to freecycle anything I think might be remotely wanted rather than throwing it in the trash.

2 things I plan to do in the next 12 months (I know this only counts as one entry but I wanted to mention both!)

1. Unplug all non running appliances when they are not in use to cut down on our Vampire power consumption.
2. Build a compost bin and use it!

Geen things I have done in the past year...

1. Joined a CSA for our summer vegetables. Unfortunately I couldn't get into one early in the season, so ours starts the week of 7/20. Thought it best to give a CSA a try during the my summer pregnancy.
2. Using prefolds for our 2nd child. I didn't start using cloth diapers with our daughter until she was 15mos. She is now 2.5. Now we are starting at birth.
3. Have had a community garden plot but wasn't sure how much I could get done this year being due in August. Got my tomatoes, cucumbers and squash planted recently...better late...

I compost with my Naturemill composter. And we still recycle even though it requires us driving the bins to a recycling dumpster miles from our home. We use compostable doggie poop bags. We wash clothes in cold, and dry in low heat to save energy. We also make sure to turn off lights when we leave a room to save energy.

I am a vegan which I believe is a very eco-friendly choice. And if and when we have little ones we will cloth diaper, and cloth wipe.

Switched to family cloth
started using washcloths for cleaning instead of throw away wipes which I'm sad to say we used for a long time because it made cleanup quick and easy to me even though it really wasn't.

In the last 12 months I have signed us up for 2 CSAs and have started to can/freeze local produce when it's in season. I've also ordered mamacloth and will change over as soon as it's delivered. :D

For goals I would like to see us go to 99% all organic for everything we eat and to cut our garbage out put in half.
